About
I was born in Peru and started medical school at Universidad San Martin de Porres (2016-2018). I served as a missionary in Chile from 2018 to 2020, and the daily work of being with people in the small details of their lives opened my eyes to realities I had not seen before. When I moved to the United States, I saw that even in a wealthy country, people fall through the cracks of the healthcare system. That experience, along with others, made me understand that healthcare access is a global problem, and it turned the question “how do we make healthcare reach everyone?” into a personal one.
I have completed two of four undergraduate degrees and I am finishing the other two. The completed ones are medical microbiology at Weber State (August 2025) and IT and System Administration at Ensign College (December 2025). I am still finishing software engineering at Ensign College (graduating August 2026, GPA 4.000) and computer science at the University of the People (graduating December 2026, GPA 3.85). Two research papers are under review at the Journal of Eukaryotic Microbiology. I’m credentialed on MIMIC-IV. I built Amoebanator (PyTorch, conformal prediction, dual-OOD; published on Hugging Face) and Kallpa (a bilingual primary care decision support engine deployed at kallpahealthcare.com). I submitted to the Anthropic Fellows Program in April 2026.
The thread across everything I’m building is bilingual healthcare AI for underserved populations, anchored in calibrated abstention and clinical ML safety. I’m applying to PhD programs that bridge computer science with biomedical applications: computer science, biomedical informatics, and computational biology. I want to be part of the long-running effort to make healthcare accessible to every person in the world, in their own language, with models that know when to say “I don’t know” out loud.
In the lab
I split time between code and bench, thinking about the whole pipeline that connects sample handling to clinical decisions.
Life & milestones
Family, sport, and community keep me grounded outside of work.
Big on sports, family time, and building things that last. I like projects where I can blend clear UX, strong engineering, and responsible ML.
- • Mentorship & service hours: 650+
- • Favorite loop: ship → measure → refine
- • Always writing: docs, model cards, roadmaps
